S tudents who drop out cost colleges and universities $16.5 billion in lost tuition each year, according to a review of 1,669 institutions by the Educational Policy Institute. Great Bernard can help with college retention and encourages student success. We contract with colleges and universities to provide services to students.
Great Bernard provides an extra layer of support. We’re an independent voice that students will listen to. We utilize research-backed practices that support students in myriad ways and provide services that colleges and universities are simply not built to provide.
Academic Support all starts with weekly, scheduled, calls. The student and Great Bernard’s advisor will discuss the kinds of tasks they have upcoming for the week and the kind of help they need to get them done. Then, during the week, we reach out proactively to keep them productive. Health Support starts the same way, but focuses on those parts of a student’s health that keep them from succeeding in school: missed medication, missed meals, and missed sleep.
If they get stuck, or need help, an advisor or nurse’s assistant is available 24/7 to help them push through via phone or chat.
Our advisors are all highly organized, US-based, students, former students, nurses, nurse’s aids, and parents. They have all experienced college themselves and are aware of the complexities of college life. They get a special thrill helping individuals reach their goals.
